A first STAC workshop was held on the 6th June with the objective to give an overview of the work that is being done in the ESA operations Ground Segment  to implement STAC within the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem and within the re-engineering of the new Sentinel data product formats.  But also to listen to the other actors that might be implementing STAC within the larger Copernicus context to see if there are some points of synergy that might be of advantage to improve interoperability.  The presentations from that workshop can be found here.

A follow-on workshop was held on 16 April 2025.  From an ESA perspective the goal was to present the progress on STAC for the Sentinels data, and the extended use of the STAC within the various elements of the Copernicus Ground Segment.  We also take the opportunity to share a more in-depth look at the work being performed by ESA in preparation of a new common product format to be deployed across the Sentinels, and Copernicus Expansion missions in the future, using Zarr.   As for the previous workshop we were pleased to have presentations from related initiatives around Copernicus and beyond, the presentations are found here.
